Community violence especially gun violence is a critical public health problem in communities. Community violence takes lives and leaves a lasting legacy of trauma. Homicides and other violent acts are causing substantial harm in communities across the country, especially in racially segregated and high-poverty neighborhoods.
Concerns about violence may prevent residents from engaging in healthy behaviors, such as walking, bicycling, using parks and recreational spaces as well as limits business growth, strains education and slows community progress. Join our panel discussion as we discuss the ways communities and partners can work together with community leaders, residents and young people to raise awareness, share resources and provide education to develop prevention efforts.
