Lili Portilla, MPA, SBIR/STTR Program Director at the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences. Recorded Nov. 18, 2020.
The Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) is hosting this seminar as part of the Health Sciences Entrepreneurship series, which features entrepreneurs (one-two from each CTSA hub) in real-time, interactive videoconferencing during each academic year to connect entrepreneurs across the CTSA consortium and broaden the depth of entrepreneurship expertise at individual hubs. We focus on entrepreneurs with discoveries across the spectrum of pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, medical devices, and health-related information technologies. The criteria for selection of speakers include accomplishments in health sciences innovation and entrepreneurship. Each speaker addresses specific topics, including key discoveries, decision points for going forward with research and development, paths to commercialization, and major hurdles to commercial success. Additionally, we have invited speakers from various entrepreneurship support organizations (ESOs) who present new programs and funding opportunities for university entrepreneurs. www.uab.edu/ccts
